The MediaTek MT6595 octa-core mobile chipset is based on the ARM big.LITTLE architecture. It has four ARM Cortex-A17 processor cores and four ARM Cortex-A7 processor cores. The Cortex-A17 cores will basically take care of the intensive tasks while the Cortex-A7 will adhere to the operating system tasks efficiently.
For top level graphics, the System-on-Chip integrates the PowerVR Series 5 GPU. Apart from that, the GPU would be able to play Ultra HD (3840x2160) videos. MediaTek has implemented the ClearMotion technology to reduce the jitter for pushing smooth 60 frames per second. Interesting bit is that the mobile chipset will also support 24-bit 192kHz high-fidelity audio codec to please the audiophiles.
The mobile chipset can support 20 megapixel camera. Wider range of wireless network will be covered with support for 802.11ac standard. For location based services, the mobile chipset integrates Multi-GNSS positioning system that includes GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo and QZSS.
Not only that, the mobile chipset will also integrate the 4G LTE multi-mode modem.
MediaTek has gone a step ahead to integrate wireless charging support in the mobile chipset as well. This might open up avenues for wireless charging and accessories to do the same.
MediaTek MT6595 is certainly one of the competitive hardware that is aimed to compete with Samsung Exynos 5 Octa and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 mobile chipsets. However, we can only expect to see premium quality products at jaw dropping prices by the second half of this year.
